July 1-2 , 2011: A number of storms passed through the Twin Cities area over a 24 hours period. Strong winds, thunderstorms and hail were reported in a number of locations.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, Buffalo, Monticello, St. Cloud, and others. |
May 22, 2011: A line of strong storms moved across south central Minnesota. Then, several thunderstorms moved rapidly northward across the southwest suburbs of the Twin Cities. A tornado caused significant damage as winds of 100 to 110 MPH passed through Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Fridley, Mounds View and Blaine. Tornados were also reported in Anoka county and Forest Lake. Hail, Thunderstorms with damaging winds were also reported in other areas of the Twin Cities.

May 10, 2011: A severe weather event with primarily large hail unfolded across central and eastern Minnesota on Tuesday evening. Warmth and moisture were observed at the highest levels so far in the Twin Cities during 2011.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Chaska, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Edina, Golden Valley, St. Louis Park, Minneapolis, Albertville, Elk River, Oak Park, Otsego, and many others. |
September 21, 2010: Thunderstorms developed late in the evening into the overnight and spread northeast. These
were mainly capable of hail, but the more organized ones did bring down strong winds.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Burnsville, Richfield, South St. Paul, Maplewood, St. Paul, and Mahtomedi. |
July 17, 2010: A warm front
triggered scattered thunderstorms, one of which produced massive hail in a
swath from western Stearns County through northern Carver County. Numerous strong to
severe thunderstorms developed rushing southeast
producing wind damage.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Annandale, Cokato, Buffalo, Howard Lake, Watertown, Minnetrista, St. Bonifacius, and Mound. |
June 25, 2010 :
A warm front draped across west central and south central Minnesota provided a focus for severe afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Some of these developed well to the north of the
front and evolved southeast, through the Twin Cities metro area causing wind, heavy rain, and hail damage.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Plymouth, New Hope, Golden Valley, Minneapolis, Roseville, South St. Paul, St. Paul, Mankato, Eagan, and Mendota Heights. |
July 24,
2009:
A cluster of severe thunderstorms developed near the Twin Cities and moved southeast across the eastern metro area and other parts of southeast Minnesota, and a small part of west central Wisconsin.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Anoka, Circle Pines, Blaine, Arden Hills, Roseville, North St. Paul, Maplewood, Woodbury, Inver Grove Heights, Cottage Grove |
July 10 - 11,
2008:
Storms moved east southeast towards the Twin Cities during the late morning on July 10th and the afternoon of July 11th. Wind, heavy rain, and hail damage were being reported in Hennepin, Dakota, Wright and Carver Counties. The most significant wind damage though occurred as the storms plowed through the southern Twin Cities Metro Area.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Bloomington, Richfield, Minnetonka, Excelsior, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Long Lake, Chaska, Jordan, New Prague, Burnsville, Prior Lake, Shakopee, Lakeville, Northfield, and Red Wing. |
June 5 - 6,
2008:
Large hail and damaging winds plagued much of central and southern
Minnesota and Iowa, from mid-afternoon Thursday into
the early morning hours of Friday.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Victoria, Chaska, Chanhassen,
Shorewood, Plymouth, Minnetonka, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center,
and others. |
May 31, 2008 :
A thunderstorm moved southeast through the western half of
the Twin Cities metropolitan area producing quarter to golf
ball size hail across many communities. The hail came
down so heavy that it covered the ground in many communities
for hours afterwards.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Monticello, Corcoran, Dayton,
Albertville, Rogers, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Plymouth,
New Hope, Crystal, St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Minneapolis,
Edina, Apple Valley, Eagan, and many others. |
May 25, 2008:
Thunderstorms produced widespread large hail damage, especially
along and north of the Interstate 94 corridor, from Monticello
to the northern Twin Cities metro area, and into west
central Wisconsin. The supercell thunderstorms also spawned
tornadoes in multiple locations, including near Coon Rapids
and Hugo.
Communities affected in the Twin Cities area include: Elk River, Andover, Anoka, Coon
Rapids, Blaine, Rogers, Brooklyn Park, Monticello, Buffalo,
Annandale, Maple Lake, and many others. |
